’Okey Ezeala is an imposter, we don’t know him’ – NDC Warns

The Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, has disowned Mr Okey Ezeala, describing him as an impostor and warning members of the public against transacting any business with him on behalf of the party.

In a statement signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, Esq., the NDC said Ezeala was neither elected nor appointed by any organ of the party as Deputy National Publicity Secretary or as a member of its National Working Committee, NWC, or National Executive Committee, NEC.

The party said it had received several complaints concerning the activities of Ezeala, who it alleged had been parading himself as the Deputy National Publicity Secretary and a member of the NWC.

The NDC further alleged that Ezeala had been collecting large sums of money from unsuspecting party members under the guise of securing party tickets and positions for them.

According to the party, Ezeala also allegedly organised an illegal “Congress” through what it described as subterfuge and intimidation, resulting in the emergence of what it called an unlawful parallel executive in Abia State.

The party said it strongly dissociated itself from Ezeala and his activities, stressing that his alleged actions did not represent the character or position of the NDC.

The NDC warned its members and the general public against dealing with Ezeala on behalf of the party, insisting that he had no authority to transact any business for the organisation.

The statement read in part, “Mr Ezeala is not elected or appointed by any organ of our great party as a deputy national publicity secretary or into our NWC or NEC as a member.”

The party added that Ezeala was “not a member of the party working or executive committee at any level, whether national, state or local government.”

The NDC urged individuals who may have fallen victim to the alleged activities of Ezeala to submit formal reports to the party through the office of the National Secretary.

It said such reports would enable the party to provide further advice and take necessary action.

The development comes amid ongoing political activities and internal organisational developments within political parties as preparations intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
