Court Grants Miyetti Allah Leader Bello Bodejo, N2bn Bail Over $2.63m Money Laundering Case

The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has granted bail to the National President of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, Bello Bodejo, in the sum of N2 billion over an alleged money laundering case involving $2.63 million.

Justice Inyang Ekwo granted the bail on Monday after considering Bodejo’s bail application and ruled that the offences for which he was charged were bailable.

The judge held that the court had the discretion to admit the defendant to bail and consequently granted the application subject to stringent conditions.

As part of the bail conditions, Bodejo was ordered to produce two sureties in the sum of N2 billion each.

One of the sureties, according to the court, must be a resident of Abuja and must provide three years’ tax clearance.

The second surety must own landed property worth N2 billion within the Federal Capital Territory.

The court also ordered the Miyetti Allah leader to surrender his international passport to the registrar of the court and barred him from travelling outside Nigeria without obtaining the court’s permission.

“The offence with which the defendant was charged was bailable and the court has the discretionary power to exercise this in his favour,” Justice Ekwo ruled.

The court subsequently adjourned the case until October 5, 6 and 7, 2026, for the commencement of trial.

Bodejo’s bail comes as he faces allegations of money laundering involving $2.63 million, with the prosecution expected to present its case when the trial begins in October.
